Middle School Language Arts, Latin & Math Coach
Pamela Webster Ward brings a rich and varied background to her role at St. Francis de Sales. She holds a B.A. in British Literary History from Goucher College and an M.A. in Medieval Literature from the University of Virginia. Certified in both elementary and secondary education, Mrs. Ward has taught in diverse settings—from Wicomico High School and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to Worcester Preparatory School, Eastern Correctional Institution, and for the past seven years, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School.
Originally intending to become a college professor, Mrs. Ward found her true passion in middle school education, where she enjoys meaningful relationships with students and the opportunity to build foundational skills that prepare them for high school and beyond. In her classes, students sharpen their writing, tackle complex novels, and engage in both independent and group projects. She emphasizes creativity and academic rigor in equal measure.
At St. Francis, Mrs. Ward especially values the camaraderie among faculty and staff. “I learn so much from my colleagues—we truly work as a team to give our students the very best.”
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Ward is an avid gardener, cook, and voracious reader (often juggling multiple books at once). A former dance instructor, she still leads a beloved fall cotillion class that has been a tradition for over 35 years. She also lends her talents to the school’s theater productions each year. “Young people are fun,” she says. “They keep me learning and laughing.”
