Here’s What You Need to Know

We’re excited that you’re thinking about becoming a St. Francis Penguin! Here are some things you’ll need to know.

Admission Policy

Children are admitted to school for kindergarten if they are 5 years of age on or before September 1. Students for grade 1 must be 6 years of age on or before September 1 and have successfully completed kindergarten. An original birth certificate is required along with a certificate of baptism for Catholics not baptized in St. Francis de Sales Parish. A health certificate containing current immunization information is required along with the Social Security number of the student. All registrations must be made in person with original certificates. A placement test will be given to all new students before acceptance is finalized. School records must be received before final acceptance.

Waiting List Priority

Admission is determined on a yearly basis with priority given to parishioners of St. Francis de Sales Parish. The following criteria will be used to determine acceptance:

  1. Siblings of children already enrolled
  2. Registered active, supporting Catholics
  3. Catholics students transferring from another Catholic school and moving into the parish
  4. Families of other faiths

The final decision regarding a student’s admission shall be determined by the principal and the pastor when the number of students within the parish exceeds the number of places available. Dependents of faculty and staff shall be given priority for enrollment in grades K-8.

Credit Cards

If you wish to use your credit card for any of the Options 1, 2, 3, or 4, you must contact FACTS to make arrangements. An additional 3.5% fee will be charged for this service. These payments will be processed through our FACTS payment processing company, not the business office.

Registration/Re-enrollment Fee

Current Families: We would like to show our gratitude for your loyalty to St. Francis de Sales School by offering you a discounted enrollment fee if you re-register within the following time frame:

  • $50/Child and $100/Family that registers before February 2, 2024
  • $200/Child and $400/Family that registers after February 2, 2024

New Families:

  • $100/Child and $200/Family

Service Hours/Fee

All families must volunteer a minimum 30 hours at parish/school sponsored events OR pay a $450.00 service fee. Service hours are calculated from July 1st to May 30th. If your total volunteer hours fall short of the required 30 hours, the service fee will be adjusted accordingly. If you do not complete your hours or pay the service hours fee ($15.00 per hour), we will deduct the remaining balance from your FACTS account.

Fundraising Events

All families are expected to take an active and supportive role in the fundraising events sponsored by the school.

Other

All checks are made payable to: SFdS. All fees must be current within each trimester. A family who is having unexpected financial difficulties must inform the principal immediately. There will be a $25.00 fee for any returned check.

Once a student is registered in our school, you have entered into an agreement and commitment to pay tuition for the entire year. The size of the staff, amount of materials and books, and yearly school budget are based upon this commitment which was made at the time of registration/re-enrollment. Tuition paid is non-refundable, and paying tuition for the entire year is the obligation of the family.

Re-registration packets for the 2024-2025 school year will not be given to any families who have not met their financial obligation for the current school year.

From The Parents...

"The Triglia/Trader family is a 3 generation alumni from SFDS. Our family has been strengthened spiritually, academically and morally throughout the years since my oldest sister attended the first graduating class back in the day. Now I am pleased to say that my son and daughter in law have their two sons, my grandchildren attending as well. I am so thankful to God for our school. We are so blessed to have these fine teachers amongst us to carry on the Sisters of Mercy hard work. The world has sustained some trying times since my oldest sister graduated and our wonderful school has survived and it will survive these times. I remember getting in the school bus (yes we had one bus driven by Mr.Williams to pick up Delmar and Laurel students) when we heard the sad news of President Kennedy’s assassination, preparing us through drills for fear of nuclear war, etc etc. these times are what made us strong and united. (So remember that when you are saddened because your kids have to wear a mask) In yet the annual May processions crowning our mother Mary, the beautiful first Communion processions and proud Confirmations our forever in our memories as well! We have grown to be successful executives, doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs buy most importantly dedicated parents, loving grandparents and good human beings. The best investment you can give your children is the gift of a SFDS education!!!! My son will tell you at 40 years old that the foundation that was built for him during the St. Francis de Sales school years is what made him the man he is today. So blessed for our school. Thank you FatherChris LaBarge for continuing the legacy of msgr Stout and thank you Mrs. Traum and our wonderful faculty for continuing the stellar academic education of the wonderful nuns including Sr Maura. God bless our school!"
