Gen Chamberlain

Mrs. Gen Chamberlain brings 18 years of teaching experience to St. Francis de Sales School, where she currently serves as a dedicated and compassionate Resource Teacher. She holds a Master’s degree in Education and is certified in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). Throughout her career, she has worked with students ranging from PreK 4 through 8th grade, teaching at Beaver Run, Woodson Elementary, and now proudly at St. Francis.

A St. Francis alumna herself, Mrs. Chamberlain returned to her roots after earning her degree from Salisbury University. She cherishes the strong sense of community, cherished traditions, and the support of both her co-workers and school families. What she loves most, though, is the kindness and big hearts of the students.

Inspired by her mother, also a teacher, Mrs. Chamberlain chose this vocation to be a positive influence and create lasting relationships just as her mother had done. Her teaching philosophy centers on patience, empathy, and compassion. She strives to meet students where they are, embracing their unique learning styles, and works to instill a lifelong love of learning. She believes in celebrating “lightbulb” moments and aims to make each student feel valued and confident.

A strong believer in faith-based education, Mrs. Chamberlain finds joy in the ability to discuss the Catholic faith with her students and values Wednesday Mass as one of the most meaningful parts of her week.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children (both current students at St. Francis), bike riding, playing games, watching Survivor, crocheting, and gardening. She is also a proud former collegiate athlete, having played tennis at Salisbury University. Her favorite books include the Harry Potter series, which she is currently re-reading with her daughter. She especially loves teaching writing and helping students tap into their creative voices.
