HSA Meeting Minutes (November 4, 2013)

SFDSCS HSA Board Meeting Minutes


Date: November 4, 2013  Time: 5:00 -6:15 pm
Attendees: Rob Costante, Michele White, April Brilliant, Angela Gianelle, Erin Terrell
HSA Business:

  • 2nd Annual Basket/Coach/Vera Bingo was held on October 25, 2013. The event brought in approximately $5590.00. There are still a few expenses that need to be deducted from that total.
  • Ladies Night will be held on November 14, 2013 at Black Diamond Lodge. This will be a fashion show from The Dressing Room. Additionally there will be jewelry and other vendors. Tickets are $20.00 at the door
  • Santa Social and Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for December 15, 2013 in the Parish Center. Amie Palenchar is getting a list of possible vendors for us to contact. Linda Roscovich is organizing “Children’s Shopping Area.” We are in need of small trinkets to be donated that children can buy as gifts. Erin Terrell will organize the Kids’ Craft activities.  Michelle White is contacting Santa.
  • Pizza Nights: None scheduled for November due to Ladies Night on our calendar. 12/6- in conjunction with the school band concert. None scheduled for January 2014 due to Murder Mystery Dinner. February 7, 2014- looking into theme but we are thinking about Jammies and Family Style Bingo.
  • Murder Mystery is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2013. April has received the contract from the performance group.
  • Uniform Swap- Several parents have voice concerns with the Uniform Swap/ Removal of Uniforms from Carriage House.  Rob informed us that the uniforms have been removed from the Carriage House upon request of those running the Carriage House. It was not a decision of the school or HSA. The Carriage House staff felt that the uniforms were taking up too much space, not being bought and therefore not making them any money. We discussed several possibilities to make the uniforms more accessible. Once these ideas are explored more we will update the school community. Most importantly we need several parents to volunteer to help with this. Mary Carlton-Jones does a great job but if we are extending etc. she may need help.
  • Per parent requests the following items were brought to Principal Rob Costante’s attention.
    • “uniform” uniform policy
    • Drop off/Pick up Line Procedure
    • Rainy Day pick up
    • Sports Conduct
    • Middle School Math Program
    • **** These issues are not HSA business however Rob is aware of the concerns and will address them as necessary. If parents or the community has concerns about school policies or academics, please address them with the school administration.  The role of HSA is primarily fundraising and has no role in school policy etc.
